Re: Windows is not starting

if its still under warranty then I would recommend it taking it ahead with them. If not then as soon as your bios loads up, you should be able to get into the bios setup. However I am not sure what can be done from the setup to fix the problem. If you are OK with reinstalling Windows on the system and know how to do it, then put a bootable CD in the computer and boot the system with that. It will boot from the CD and guide you through the steps for reinstalling/fixing Windows. However if even you are not able to enter the bios setup and your computer doesn't even boot from a bootable CD, then I am not sure what problem you are in and what to do to fix your problem. Maybe someone else might be able to help more.

Please let us know if this solved your problem or what solution finally worked for you because it might help people with similar problems in the future.

Re: Windows is not starting

i bought this computer like around more than 2 years back and it is pentium 3, i did try to enter into the bios setup and also try to use the bootable cd but could not achieve any luck. The big problem is it does not respond at all.

Re: Windows is not starting

well.. it might be a hard disk problem as far as i can see. I had a problem like that with my desktop before. and it got fixed when i changed my hard disk. you can do onething, try to open CPU cover and took all the plugs out and plug them back tight. just have a try. I am not sure if that might help. If that doesn't help then its better to take your computer to Pc repairs Shop.. thats the only way bro.

Re: Windows is not starting

Sorry to here about your problem. A few questions.

Does the computer beep at all? As this might give us a clue about whats going on.

Are you happy to open up the computer? If so it may be worth reseting the bios. This is usually done simply by moving a jumper. (Sorry, I cant be more specific unless I know you computer model.)

Did you install any new hardware that could be causing the problem?

Try unplugging any usb devices that you have attached as this can sometimes mean a failing power supply.

Super cool's good advice about unplugging leads and replugging them in sometimes works and its definitely one of the cheapest things you can try, lol.

Does the computer display anything before th HP screen?

I think thats it for now, unfortunately it could be a number of things, hard-drive, power supply, processor, memory or even the motherboard. Apologies if you have tried all this already.
